INTRODUCTION TO SOMEONE WHO'S JUST VIBING

HEY!! Look who made it to her second year of college!! Me, Nadine, I did!! Yeah, I'm even more surprised than you are.

Last year wasn't too bad, but that was up until the whole country went into quarantine and I began to fear for my college career. I was constantly on the verge of giving up on my assignments but I would like to thank my friends for not allowing that to happen. I'm so glad I get to start year two with them and hopefully we'll make it to the end together too!

Despite the stress, there are a few pieces of work from year one that I'm proud of. I liked the websites that I created for Web Development 1 and 2, the video I edited from Introduction to Digital Media mission 3 and the advertisement poster I made for Digital Photography. I hope to produce better work this year.

I really think that my personality has grown since the beginning of first year and that is a very good thing. I may still be shy and quiet at times but definitely not as much as before. Meeting and speaking to different people since I've started college has really helped me come out of my shell a little more. However, the self deprecative traits are still here and forever will be!

Another thing that has changed for the better is the clothes I wear. I'm still working on finding the style that works best for me but quarantine has definitely given me the time to improve it even a little. I think this small change has made me feel more comfortable about the way that I look in my own eyes. I've started to care a little less about what other people think of me, but not entirely!! I still have a long way to go in that department. Oh! I'm also blonde at this moment in time and I look cute as hell, thank you.

I started studying Mandarin this summer and I'm enjoying it a lot. Some parts are a little confusing but that comes with learning a new language. It helps a little that I grew up speaking Cantonese because some words and sentence structures are similar, even if I have lost a lot of my Cantonese.. 没关系 :( [it's okay]

Hmm music is still a big part of my everyday and kpop is, in fact, still my favourite genre. Stream these two music videos please, it would be much appreciated!

  5. Hi Nadine! Really nice blog, it's not easy working from home doing college work when we all miss meeting up with friends. I have to say, your website looks amazing, really nice design and colour choices. I wish mine turned out that good! That's really nice that your trying new thing's and learning new skills, it's definitely the best way to keep yourself busy with how things are now. Never listened to Kpop, might have to give them a listen or maybe not, who knows haha. Anyways, Great blog!

  6. Hey Nadine! Definitely feel you on the whole nearly giving up during quarantine. I didn't think I'd survive. But hey, well done! I love the colours from your website. I haven't given kpop a try yet but that's cause I'm stuck in my old playlists. I'll definitely check out the two videos you recommended above!

  7. Hi Nadine!! Really enjoyed your blog! I definitely felt the whole giving up during quarantine, I was the exact same! Felt like I was living in a loop! Both your websites are really cool, I love the colours and how minimalistic they look! Ohh I wish I developed a sense of style during this.. All I've worn is sweatpants and hoodies.. I'm a disaster lol. I saw your hair on your instagram, it really suits you :) Hopefully soon we can go back to having random games of cards against humanity in the canteen! -Megan
    P.S I streamed the music videos :)

  8. Hi Nadine! It's Aoibhe. What a lovely introduction blog post. I know exactly how you felt during quarantine with assignments too! But I am glad you had good friends that helped you out! I luckily had the same. I love fashion and can agree with you on how hard it is to try and find a style that suits you best. I think we have a lot in common, over lockdown I too started to care less about what others think! Best feeling every. Great blog post & amazing Blog layout. - Aoibhe

  9. Hey Nadine! Wow, I really enjoyed reading your introduction post. It is very well written and you covered so many important topics in a way that was easy to read and digest. The layout of your blog is great, I love the colour code and I had no problems navigating through you page. The animations throughout your blog are really cool as well! All the best for this year!

  10. Hello Nadine, I'm so glad you made it through Year 1. It's so nice that you had your friends to help you get through the harder times, hopefully I can meet them sometime. You seem really cool and nice and I didn't really see you much in Year 1 but that's besides the point 0w0. Your website looks really good and I bet the rest of your Year 1 work did too. It's super nice to hear how you've grown in College and I really hope you continue to grow in the ways you want too, even though that may be a little more difficult this year... In terms of clothing and fashion I've also been messing around with it a lot during quarantine and trying to work on my own confidence too! My hair's a lot longer now but I guess that wouldn't mean much without a reference oWo. Learning languages is really fun and interesting but it's DIFFICULT. I've also kinda lost quite a bit of my native language too over the years but I guess that's too be expected if you're not surrounded by it anymore. In my time learning the 4-ish languages that I speak I've found the best way is probably to actually speak it as much as possible, especially with someone else that speaks it if possible, even colloquially. #StanAB6IX

  12. Hey Nadine, I really enjoyed reading your blog, like yourself I didn't like the lockdown but I'm gald to be back working in college at least doing something. I've never once listened to Kpop but I hear it is very well known especially on Tik-Tok I'd say. I also really liked Web Development too especially making our own websites and the end result of them. Wish you the best of luck in everything that is too come.

  13. Hi Nadine,
good to hear that your friends kept pushing you to get everything sorted last year, it was very difficult for all of us unfortunately, hopefully we will all be back on campus soon and things will get back to normal.
its great hearing stories about people becoming less shy and being more comfortable in their own skin, just keep being yourself!

  14. Hi Nadine! It's really nice to hear that you've opened up more since college and have grown to love yourself a little more. It makes my day when people write about that stuff and I hope you realise how special you are! Your websites look amazing and very professionally done so I can't wait to see what you're going to create in terms of Nia Ireland! - Anna Zurawska

  15. Hey Nadine,
its Cian here. I’m glad you made it to 2nd year and also have grown in college. I can also relate to that. I also relate to losing motivation last semester. I still feel like that sometimes now Wirth the online learning. Yeah, also I don't know why you're surprised you passed because comparing both your websites to both of mine, you can clearly that you are very talented. I have never actually listened to k pop but as you said change is good.

UNITY TUTORIAL 04

Various devices illustration from Freepik . This week I completed the final set of tutorials to create a simple animal feeding game. I learned how to make animals spawn on their own rather than having to click "S" to do so. This involved creating a custom function and moving the if-statement under "void Update" to this new function. I also learned how to make the animals spawn after a certain timeframe. I learned how to add box colliders to the animals and how to edit the size of these box colliders. Moreover, I was taught how to make the animals and pizza disappear when they came in contact with each other. I added an else-if-statement that triggers a "Game Over" message when an animal surpasses the player without being fed.  Following this, I completed a challenge in which I had to correct a game similar to the one in the previous tutorials. The final product should allow the player to spawn dogs to catch falling coloured balls. The dogs were initially a...

READING 6: DOING

Illustration by Shane Francisco on dribbble . Difference between a linear and nonlinear story structure The most common storytelling structures that are present in games are linear and nonlinear, since there is  no single mode of narrativity in entertainment software [1].  Linear narratives follow a chronological path with a defined beginning, middle, and end. The player progresses through the game in a straight line by reaching predefined plot points. This is different to games with a nonlinear structure because they provide the player with the freedom to make decisions that can influence the story. The player's choices offers them several possible endings. There are games that have a combination of both structures. Three act structure The three act structure is a method of linear storytelling which divides a plot into a beginning, middle, and end. This model is widely used for designing a high level framing narrative for compu...
