FIRST PLAYABLE

Continuing with the creation of my game, I resized the player character to make them even smaller based on a comment that was left on my last project blog. I also repositioned the trees to make the space slightly narrower and added some flowers to bring some colour into the scene. With reference from the animal feeding game tutorial, I was able to get the player moving left and right by clicking the arrow keys. I brought in rocks and a branch for obstacles but I need to apply a SpawnManager script and get them to spawn randomly during gameplay. I also have to figure out how to get some branches falling from the trees and bringing in power-ups and points too.

  1. it sounds like you are really on top of things, your game looks very nice aesthetically, and i'm sure you'll be able to make it even better before the final result.
it's good to hear you have some code in and working, and that you already have a plan set out for what is to come next, just a few more hours and it'll be all finished.

  3. Hey Nadine, just after reading your playable right there and your game is looking really good so far I am already liking the environment for your game it is real nice. Everything seems very organised. I guess your Unity is corresponding with you since I do not see a complaint good for you, unlike some of us out there. Anyways good luck with the rest of your game.

  4. Hi Nad, your game is looking really good. You have the very calm and relaxing atmosphere which I can see in your images. It seems like you're very close to being done as the environment is full and you've incorporated your assets well. I can see you resized the character as well, was my other feedback useful? Is there by any chance an end goal? Or do you think it would be better to leave it to running as far as you can without dying?

  5. Hi Nadine,
your game looks great, you seem like your on top of all the work, aesthetically your game looks amazing. I'm sure you can make it even better before the deadline. It's great to see that you've started to ad some code and it's working for you , and hopefully you don't have much trouble further down the line. If your looking for assets you should go through eh unity files we've had to download for the weekly tutorials, then you know there compatible with unity, and you'll have videos to show you how to implement the code, best of luck with your game!!.

  6. Hi Nadine, your game is looking really well! The character and background looks really good and properly put together. What are your plans for next week? I see you said you needed to figure out SpawnManager and working with power ups. Are you going to do tutorials or are you going to go back over some Unity tutorials we've already done? I think your idea is really cool so far and I'd love to see how it progresses and what it'll look like if you're able to implement the things you mentioned in this post needing to be added. Good luck!

  7. Hey Nadine! I really love how your game is looking so far! The player and the setting looks really great. I love endless runner games and used to always play temple run and subway surfers. I went back and read your Game Idea Research and Prototype blog posts and you have got a lot of what you had hoped done already! The Unity Tutorial we done a couple of weeks ago should be really useful for you when it comes to introducing Powerups to your game. I hope the next couple of weeks go well for you and good luck with the other modules!

  8. Hi Nadine, wow your game is looking great so far. I love the way the game looks and the atmosphere it seems to be giving off. I kinda looks like a temple run type of game, which I used to love to play when I was younger, so I say this game will be really fun to play, when it is finished. I see you plan to add power ups to your game, do you know what types of powers these will give the player? I think this would make the game even better. I say you're happy you did the unity tutorials now because there is so much code there that could help you with your game. Do you plan on adding a score keeper to your game? if so would it like keep the score of how long you have been running? or maybe you could add objects that give you score. Anyways, it looks great so far, best of luck with finishing it!

  9. Hey Nadine, your game looks really well with the lighting and nature. Overall your game looks very polished and well designed. I think its a great idea to refer back to the unity tutorials and use as much of those resources as we can. I think the main menu tutorial which runs over making the main menu, win and lose screens for a game which I think will really flesh out your game for the user. Other than that you seem to be doing really well and I'd love to see it finished.

  10. Hey Nadine,
Your game is looking pretty amazing if you don't mind me saying. Overall I think your making great progress in your game honestly hope your proud of it so far. I think adding in those flowers for a pop of color definitely visually makes the game that bit better. It's the small details that really make the game you know. I also see that you have some tasks in mind going forward to focus on while finishing up your game which is a really good idea going forward. Have you thought about your main menu or game over screen much or is that something your working on? Other than that you seem to have everything covered so well done.

INTRODUCTION TO SOMEONE WHO'S JUST VIBING

HEY!! Look who made it to her second year of college!! Me, Nadine, I did!! Yeah, I'm even more surprised than you are.  Happy girl illustration by 94MLK_ on Twitter. Saved from Pinterest . Last year wasn't too bad, but that was up until the whole country went into quarantine and I began to fear for my college career. I was constantly on the verge of giving up on my assignments but I would like to thank my friends for not allowing that to happen. I'm so glad I get to start year two with them and hopefully we'll make it to the end together too!  Despite the stress, there are a few pieces of work from year one that I'm proud of. I liked the websites that I created for Web Development 1 and 2, the video I edited from Introduction to Digital Media mission 3 and the advertisement poster I made for Digital Photography. I hope to produce better work this year.  Personal screenshot from the index page of my web development 1 project. Personal screenshot from the index page

GAME IDEA RESEARCH

Runner animation by Otilija MorozaitÄ— from Dribbble . Following last week's game brainstorm , I have decided to focus on and develop my idea of creating an infinite runner game and will be thinking about three game mechanics I will include. I will be drawing inspiration from the Ghibli Studios film, "The Secret World of Arrietty" for the theme of my game.  Obstacles are implemented within games to create a challenge for the player and to make it more difficult for them to win or in the case of infinite runner games, prevent them from playing forever and becoming tremendously bored. For my game idea, I plan to scatter stones along the lanes that the player must jump over or switch lanes to avoid. There will also be twigs falling from the trees which will create shadows before hitting the ground so the player is aware and can attempt to avoid them. A feature will be applied that allows the player to move left and right. Rewards will be available to the player throughout th
